LONG ISLAND KICKLINE
ASSOCIATION, Inc.
INSTRUCTIONS
Please
go to our website (www.li-kickline.org)
to review the Competition Rules. You are
expected to know the rules and regulations for the division in which you are
competing and for the overall competition.
The first two competitions will be held at Commack
Middle School which is on Motor Parkway west of Commack Rd. Buses should go past the school and turn into
the first driveway and park in the back lot. Team members will enter the
building from that lot. Spectators
should park in the front and side lots.
MUSIC TAPES
Be
sure to have a high quality tape, rewound to the beginning
of your music. Do not use your practice
tape, and it is suggested that a back-up tape be brought for an
emergency.
These will be provided by LIKA. REMEMBER, these
tapes will be reused at future competitions this year. You must bring these tapes, rewound to the
beginning, to the next contest. Tapes
are to be submitted to the main table 15 minutes prior to the contest’ start
time. Lost tapes, or tapes not turned in on time will cost $10 for 6
replacement tapes.
Upon arriving, you will be required to sign a
statement indicating that to the best of your knowledge all members of your
line are medically capable of performing.
Students with braces, ace bandages, etc., or students previously
injured, must have a medical clearance signed by a doctor and not a
parent. Students needing inhalers should
bring them, and past experience says a light breakfast is needed before
performing.
Doors
open at 9AM and the competition begins at 9:30. Spectators and team members
must remain outside until 9AM.
Order
of Performance (Program) for competitions can be copied from our website: www.li-kickline.org. Please make copies for your team, as no
programs are distributed to team members at the door.
SEATING:**
Team
members will be seated in the auxiliary gym and a video feed of the
competition will be shown there. If possible, several teams will be
able to sit in the main gym but will have to leave equipment in the auxiliary
gym. Spectators will remain in the gym.
Unfortunately, the climate of today requires more vigilance in order to
protect our children. Our staff feels
strongly that separating performers and spectators allows them to provide more
protection for team members. Since this
staff includes off-duty police officers and licensed security guards (with
experience at public schools, we feel compelled to accept their advice. For safety, we will not allow spectators to
visit team members without permission of a LIKA staff member, and then, only in
rare instances. Violation of this rule may result in a team’s disqualification. Additionally, while a team is performing, the
on-deck team may only stretch out of sight of the floor. Please inform your spectators of these rules
and that at no time may they block the view of the
judges or stand behind them.
Teams
with spectator buses should collect admissions prior to entering.
